APOCALYPSE
The beginnings of this project took
flight after I completed 3 rather quirky series - two architectonic
(HOME and ARCHITEXTURE) as well as one autobiographical (SHE WAS
THE KIND OF PERSON………..)
Feeling the need to return to more political work
- and also feeling the desolation that seemed to be taking over
the country - the concept of APOCALYPSE began to germinate.
Trying to capture the mood of my fellow citizens
during this fraught time, certain words would pop up - in order
of intensity! - ANXIETY……DREAD….FORBODING…….
Next, a fiery palette presented itself, and I was on my way!
But a funny thing happened after I did the middle
piece of nine (DELAY DENY DEPOSE - a phrase that became famous
after the head of an insurance company in NYC was assassinated).
Friends, neighbors, strangers - all began to speak up. And ACT
up. A small flame of hope was sparked.
And thus the project pieces began to morph in a
different direction….. MISTRUST…..
ENDURANCE….. RESISTANCE……..DEFIANCE.
