THE MARK PORTRAITS (2003 –
2005)
The MARK PORTRAITS, sgraffito and mixed
media overlaying large ink-jet photographs on rag paper, explore
issues of identity and transformation.
Using images of the same face, metamorphosed
into various historical male and female characters, these theatrical
‘portraits’ play with the concepts of visual perception
and “profiling”.
All works are elaborately framed, with
mouldings chosen to match the mood of the portrait, and are approximately
36" x 30".
